The Canoe Livery offers self guided downriver canoe trips and kayak rentals. We provide you with life jackets, transportation to the drop off site in Grand Rapids for downriver trips, canoes and paddles. The Otsego Canoe Livery is open Memorial Day through Labor Day Saturday, Sundays and Holidays. Canoeists are taken by bus to Grand Rapids, where they will paddle downstream, retracing an 8-mile section of the former fur trader route to Fort Detroit.

To reserve a canoe/kayak, simply click on the date you wish to reserve to the right.

Ideally, canoes seat 2 adults. They can handle 3 adults, or 2 adults and 2 small children. For more than 2 adults, a middle seat or cushion is necessary. Extra seats are limited and available on a first-come first-served basis. The total weight limit for a canoe is 650 pounds, this includes all passengers and gear. If your weight limits exceed this a second canoe must be rented.

If anyone in your group will be under 18 on the date of your trip, they must bring a completed permission slip with Guardian signatures with them prior to the launch of the canoe trip. Please click here, print and complete one for each person under 18.

Youth groups should call for special discounts. All trips dependent on weather and river conditions. 4 canoe rental minimum per time slot per day must be met by one or more individuals or groups.

The Park District reserves the right to cancel trips based on weather or river conditions.
