Description: |
During the Great Depression, farmers were able to avoid financial ruin using what they learned through extension office agricultural accounting classes. While it is not as dire as facing the Great Depression, entering the adult world can be intimidating for recent graduates. Luckily, Carter Historic Farm is here to help! After a brief talk on the ways that farmers and their families learned to budget for success in the 1930s presented by farm staff, we’ll hear about modern-day personal finance from our guest speaker, BGSU Professor of Finance, Roc Starks. From student loans to managing bills and everything in-between, Professor Starks will cover the basics and answer any questions you have about finances to better prepare you for “adulting.” This program is held off-site from the farm, at W.W. Knight Nature Preserve. Due to the limited seating at the venue, registration of all people (teens and parents) attending is required. Please contact Wood County Park District with any questions. |
