CANCELLED Children's Fishing Derby

Every second Sunday from June through September, take your bike-ability to the next level with instructors from The Right Direction Youth Development Program! Techniques will be broken down into manageable steps, with challenges designed to build confidence and biking skill. A properly fitting helmet and mountain bike are required. This program is appropriate for ages 7 through adult. Skills covered will be determined by participants at the program.

Kayaking Safety and Skills Workshop

Prepare to improve your kayaking knowledge, ability, and safety!  Our certified instructors are ready to teach you about all things kayaking to ensure your transition from the parking lot to the water is smooth, educated, and confident.  Prepare for an active, challenge-by-choice day with lots of paddling and potentially getting wet.  All kayaks and gear provided; personal equipment welcome, check with leader beforehand.  Use of a spray skirt is optional.  See online description for full details and registration requirements.  Must be 14 years of age or older (must have liability form signed by legal guardian before attending the program).  Dress for the weather and for swimming.  Bring a change of clothes, towel, snacks, water, and any weather/water protection you see fit (sunscreen, nose plugs, ear plugs, etc.).  Previous kayaking experience beneficial.  Participant must meet Essential Eligibility Criteria (EEC), which are the abilities and characteristics deemed fundamental for participation.  See EEC before registration.  Please make arrangements with program leader for special needs or concerns regarding the above EEC.  Kayaking programs made possible with ODNR Division of Watercraft.

Dairy Goat Husbandry

Island Kayak Tour

Paddle through the largest island chain in the Mighty Maumee with a naturalist as you check out ecological features and learn about the history of the islands.  We'll search for wildlife like bald eagles, painted turtles, beaver and more!  A kayaking safety and skills session will precede the trip.  Previous kayaking experience is recommended.  This paddling trip is roughly 3 river miles.  Must be 14 years of age or older (must have liability form signed by legal guardian before attending program).  All participants must meet Essential Eligibility Criteria (EEC), which are the abilities and characteristics deemed fundamental for participation.  Call ahead for special needs and accommodations.  No restroom facilities at program location.  Kayaking programs made possible by ODNR Division of Watercraft.

Full Moon Canoe Tour

Paddle around Ewing Island with a naturalist as you check out ecological features and learn about the history of the island. We’ll search for wildlife like bald eagles, painted turtles, beaver and more as the sun sets and the moon rises. A canoeing safety and skills session will precede the trip. Previous canoeing experience recommended. Canoes are 2-person boats. This paddling trip is roughly 2.5 river miles. Must be 11 to paddle in the front seat; 6 to ride in the center; please contact the program leader for center riders or other special accommodations. Only 2-paddler canoes provided; register with a companion or one will be assigned to you at the program. All participants must abide by Essential Eligibility Criteria and sign a Release of Liability.
