Techniques will be broken down into manageable steps, with challenges designed to build confidence and biking skill. A properly fitting helmet and mountain bike are required. This program is appropriate for ages 7 through adult. Skills covered will be determined by participants at the program.

It is to highlight to those just beginning to compost and remind those already composting that it is a vital component of healthy soil, healthy plants and reducing our impact on the environment. Learn how the many items you may be throwing away from your landscape and kitchen can create the most amazing soil amendment out there while doing your part for the planet. Presented by Vicki Gallagher of the Agricultural Incubator Foundation.
For Friends of the Parks members only. Bees, butterflies, bugs and others are the topic for this talk. Increase your knowledge of who our pollinators are, what they do, what they like and how you can help them. We will start in the shelter with an informative talk and then walk and tour the impressive pollinator garden at Cedar Creeks.
Prepare to improve your kayaking knowledge, ability, and safety! Our certified instructors are ready to teach you about all things kayaking to ensure your transition from the parking lot to the water is smooth, educated, and confident. Prepare for an active, challenge-by-choice day with lots of paddling and potentially getting wet. All kayaks and gear provided; personal equipment welcome, check with leader beforehand. Use of a spray skirt is optional. See online description for full details and registration requirements. Must be 14 years of age or older (must have liability form signed by legal guardian before attending the program). Dress for the weather and for swimming. Bring a change of clothes, towel, snacks, water, and any weather/water protection you see fit (sunscreen, nose plugs, ear plugs, etc.). Previous kayaking experience beneficial. Participant must meet Essential Eligibility Criteria (EEC), which are the abilities and characteristics deemed fundamental for participation. See EEC before registration. Guests will learn about caring for and milking dairy goats. We'll also discuss their nutritional needs to keep them healthy. We'll be treated to a sample of goat milk gelato at the end of the program. Experts from Sweet Lone Oak Farm will be on hand to answer questions and discussion.

Make your own wooden arrow, then give it a shot at the beginner-friendly instructional archery program. We'll learn about quality arrow components and their functions before focusing on the steps of shooting, shooting consistency and fun! All archery equipment provided, personal gear welcome (inspected at program). Must be 8 or older to attend. Minors must be accompanies by legal guardian. Please register attending archer only.
Tomatoes are one of the most popular canning vegetables thanks to their high acidity and versatility. We will be making our own tomato sauce and canning it using the water-bath method. This will be demonstration style with plenty of time for questions. This program is designed for teen and adults.
Get up close and personal with the life in the Maumee River as we explore some of its runs, riffles and pools. Kids must be 8 years or older. Program cancelled in the event of high water or severe weather. We will be in the water exploring with our hands and nets so wear quick drying clothes and footwear that can get wet and stay attached to your feet.

We'll search for wildlife like bald eagles, painted turtles, beaver and more! A kayaking safety and skills session will precede the trip. Previous kayaking experience is recommended. This paddling trip is roughly 3 river miles. Must be 14 years of age or older (must have liability form signed by legal guardian before attending program). We’ll search for wildlife like bald eagles, painted turtles, beaver and more as the sun sets and the moon rises. A canoeing safety and skills session will precede the trip. Previous canoeing experience recommended. Canoes are 2-person boats. This paddling trip is roughly 2.5 river miles. Must be 11 to paddle in the front seat; 6 to ride in the center; please contact the program leader for center riders or other special accommodations. Only 2-paddler canoes provided; register with a companion or one will be assigned to you at the program. All participants must abide by Essential Eligibility Criteria and sign a Release of Liability. Call ahead for special needs and accommodations.
